K2 Vision is a surgical vision correction practice specializing in two of the most advanced procedures in the field today — Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and the Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL). We’ve built our practice this way because we believe every patient deserves access to crisp, clear vision.

We’ve found that RLE and ICL procedures are the best methods for us to achieve that goal. No matter how complex your case may be, we always work to find the optimal vision correction solution. After decades of experience and thousands of procedures, we are confident that focusing exclusively on these two surgeries will continue to produce the best outcomes.

Surgical Vision Correction in Scottsdale

Our mission at K2 Vision is to provide vision correction solutions to the many people who have been told that, for one reason or another, they aren’t a candidate for some of the more common surgeries like LASIK or PRK. Take a look below at what RLE and ICL do, and come visit us for a consultation to see if they can help you too.

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE

As the eye ages, the natural lens inside it will begin to break down, causing blurring, cloudiness, and gradual vision loss. Refractive Lens Exchange is a procedure that removes and replaces the original, natural lens with a premium intraocular lens (IOL) before these problems escalate and obstruct your vision. This artificial lens not only restores, but also improves your vision! It’s a quick outpatient procedure that takes no more than about 10 minutes per eye.

This type of exchange used to only happen in premium cataract surgery, but new lens options and technological advancements allow RLE to be performed prior to the formation of a fully-developed cataract (as a response to a condition known as Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome). RLE replaces the lens right when you begin having vision issues — before they can affect your quality of life.

If you don’t want a cataract to cause you vision loss, give us a call. One of our expert eye surgeons will evaluate your vision and recommend the best course of action.

Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL)

IMPLANTED COLLAMER LENS

During an Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure, a natural IOL is inserted in front of the natural lens of your eye — without disrupting the corneal surface of the eye itself. Typically only lasting about 10 minutes per eye, it’s a quick outpatient procedure and you’ll be able to see results very soon.

ICL, unlike LASIK, is performed within the eye rather than on the surface. This way, there is virtually no impact on the cornea, and it lowers the risk of dry eye side effects.

If someone is not a good fit for LASIK or photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) due to their astigmatism, high degree of myopia, or thin corneas, then ICL can still be a good choice. Your K2 Vision surgeon will evaluate your eyes’ characteristics and give you the information you need to determine if ICL is the right choice for you.
