Ophthalmologists
in Kennewick

K2 Vision was founded boldly on a dedication to two of the most advanced vision correction surgeries available today, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL). The driving force behind this idea was that every patient, regardless of the complexity of their eyes and respective issues, deserved life-changing vision correction.

By focusing exclusively on RLE and ICL, K2 Vision was able to position itself as the Pacific Northwest’s leader for patients who may have been told they needed options beyond LASIK or cataract surgery. Decades of experience have positioned us to meet these patients’ needs on a daily basis, and we believe we can provide anyone with the vision they deserve.

Exceptional Kennewick Eye Surgeons

Dr. Andrew Kopstein, MD, eye surgeon at K2 Vison Tri-Cities in Kennewick, WA

Andrew Kopstein, M.D.

Andrew Kopstein, M.D. is a highly-skilled eye surgeon and a board-certified ophthalmologist with over two decades as the foremost expert on advanced vision correction procedures in the Pacific Northwest, with over 50,000 performed to date.

Focusing specifically on RLE and ICL in his practice is what gives Dr. Kopstein a unique view into complex eye issues, where he can apply his skill, training, and experience to a broader range of patients. It also makes him unique in the United States, as so few practices exist solely for these two advanced vision correction surgeries. He has a wide knowledge of artificial lenses, and as such, can truly optimize each patient’s surgery.

Dr. Joseph King, MD, eye surgeon at K2 Vison Tri-Cities in Kennewick, WA

Joseph King, M.D.

Joseph King, M.D., is K2 Vision’s co-founder and one of the Pacific Northwest’s most recognizable names in LASIK. He’s performed over 150,000 vision correction surgeries (and counting), so when any of the tens of thousands of people he’s helped recommend his experience, you know he can back it up. Dr. King is also a LASIK patient, so he’ll know on a personal level what you’re going through and how high the stakes can be.

He’s earned the trust of pilots, sharpshooters, military navigators, and active pro athletes — all of whom need their eyesight to be perfect in order to perform at their best, and they came to Dr. King for their vision correction surgery.

Between the 200,000-plus surgeries in Dr. Kopstein and Dr. King’s history, there’s enough experience to have solutions for any complex vision problems a patient may have. You deserve that expertise when it comes to your eyes.

REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE

Issues with the eyes’ natural lenses can be a major factor in vision loss. Presbyopia describes the process of the lens becoming less flexible over time, causing farsightedness. The lens can also break down, resulting in a cataract, which causes blurry or cloudy vision.

A solution growing in popularity is Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), a surgery in which the natural, aging lens is replaced by an intraocular lens (IOL) that can not only restore, but improve your vision. Undergoing RLE before the presbyopia worsens or before a cataract develops can be the optimal method of preventing these complications in the future.

Not sure if your vision loss is being caused by cataracts? A consultation with one of our experienced eye surgeons can help provide clarity about whether you are a good fit for RLE.

IMPLANTED COLLAMER LENS

An Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure involves inserting a phakic IOL made from natural material in front of the eye’s natural lens without the need to disrupt the surface of the eye.

The IOL is able to precisely reshape the cornea from behind it, fixing refractive issues. Because it’s less invasive than LASIK or PRK, recovery is easier and the risk for dry eye is lower. ICL has the ability to correct higher degrees of myopia and astigmatism, giving patients with extreme vision prescriptions more options when they’re told that LASIK or PRK may not be right for them.

Your K2 Vision surgeon will be able to provide more information to help you decide together if ICL is right for you and your eyes.
