Ophthalmologists
in Vancouver, WA
K2 Vision is proud to be the Pacific Northwest’s home for vision correction surgery, and a provider of two of the most advanced procedures offered today — Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL). When we decided to start a practice specializing in ONLY two procedures, it was because we believed in their ability to give every one of our patients the clear vision they deserve.
Sometimes, patients need vision correction options besides LASIK and standard cataract surgery, options that meet their complex needs when they’ve been told they may not be good fits for those types of procedures. At K2 Vision, we’ve dedicated ourselves to delivering you the highest quality vision correction solutions, no matter how complex your issues.

Surgical Vision Correction in Vancouver
Discovering that you may not be a “good fit” for LASIK or may not be able to rely on premium cataract surgery for vision improvement can be discouraging. But, at K2 Vision, we want to offer you hope, and we believe that either RLE or ICL can be the way. Come in for a consultation with us and see if one of these groundbreaking options might be just what you need!
REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE
Along with the aging of the eye comes a natural deterioration in the eye’s lens, and subsequent vision loss. With Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), there is a solution. The natural lens is removed, and a premium intraocular lens (IOL) replaces it, thereby restoring vision.
Lens replacement used to be limited to cataract surgeries, but today, RLE can actually come first. The idea is to perform RLE prior to the development of a cataract, in response to a condition known as Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS). Replacing the lens early and quickly prevents further lens-based vision issues such as presbyopia and cataracts from forming. And like cataract surgery, RLE is an outpatient procedure typically lasting less than 10 minutes per eye.
If you aren’t sure if your vision loss might be due to cataracts, come in for a consultation with one of our experienced physicians who can help provide insight as to the specifics of your situation, and whether you’d be a fit for RLE or perhaps cataract surgery.
IMPLANTED COLLAMER LENS
In an Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure, an artificial contact lens is placed in front of the eye’s natural lens in order to reshape it from the inside, without removing corneal tissue or the lens itself, as LASIK or cataract surgery would. It is an outpatient procedure usually lasting only about 10 minutes.
It’s a less invasive procedure and a different approach than LASIK and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), which both involve disrupting the surface of the cornea and removing tissue to reshape it.
ICL is often a good option for patients who aren’t a good fit for conventional laser vision surgery due to astigmatism and severe myopia, or perhaps thin corneas. Your K2 Vision surgeon will explain the procedure thoroughly with you as you learn about vision correction surgery and decide if ICL is the right one for you.
