Experienced Tacoma Eye Surgeons

Dr. Andrew Kopstein, MD, eye surgeon at K2 Vision Seattle South in Tacoma, WA

Andrew Kopstein, M.D.

Andrew Kopstein, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist, as well as an eye surgeon who today only conducts RLE and ICL procedures. He is the leader in advanced vision correction procedures in the Pacific Northwest, counting over 50,000 of them over his career.

Because he’s so dedicated to and believes in these procedures so much, he is one of a very small number of physicians whose practice focuses entirely on RLE and ICL the way K2 Vision does. With Dr. Kopstein’s expertise honed over the past 20 years, coupled with his wide knowledge of artificial lens options, patients can have confidence in his ability to improve their sight.

Dr. Joseph King, MD, eye surgeon at K2 Vision Seattle South in Tacoma, WA

Joseph King, M.D.

Joseph King, M.D., is the co-founder of K2 Vision and one of the most recognizable names in LASIK in the Pacific Northwest. A career spanning 150,000 vision correction surgeries and counting just gives you a glimpse into the way Dr. King has changed thousands of people’s lives. Furthermore, as a LASIK patient himself, he really understands in his heart what it means to see with the type of vision correction LASIK can offer.

Dr. King’s abilities and expertise have earned him the reputation of being the premier choice for LASIK in the Pacific Northwest, as well as the trust of pilots, navigators, servicepeople, and professional athletes who rely on their sight to excel in their fields.

Dr. King and Dr. Kopstein’s combined 200,000 surgeries make them a unique coupling at the same practice, with the ability to solve the complex needs of any patient. When it comes to the industry’s latest methods, there’s virtually no need for patients in the Pacific Northwest to look any further than K2 Vision.

Surgical Vision Correction in Tacoma

K2 Vision is proud to be one of the few ophthalmology practices in the United States dedicated entirely to unique vision correction surgeries. Because so many people are told they aren’t candidates for LASIK and other “standard” procedures, we offer two of the most advanced alternatives and encourage every patient to learn more about the options through a consultation with K2 Vision.

REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE

Lens issues are common causes of vision loss. Over time, the natural lens in your eye becomes less flexible, and its complex structure starts to break down. This is a natural side effect of aging, called Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS), causing vision to get blurry, cloudy, and out of focus.

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is a simple outpatient procedure that usually takes less than 10 minutes. During RLE, your eye surgeon replaces the natural, aging lens with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) that restores or improves your vision. Ideally, you’ll undergo RLE before the presbyopia sets in or before a cataract develops, because replacing the lens with an IOL is a solution to both issues.
Not sure if your vision loss is caused by cataracts? A consultation with one of our experienced eye surgeons can help provide the answers you’re looking for.

IMPLANTED COLLAMER LENS

An Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure is a fast, outpatient surgery that can correct your vision. In ICL, an IOL is implanted in front of the eye’s natural lens in order to reshape it from within. As a result, there is no need to remove any corneal tissue.

This is in direct contrast with LASIK, which involves cutting into the cornea to reshape it, resulting in risk for dry eye and other side effects. ICL is also a better option for patients with astigmatism or high degrees of myopia, for whom LASIK may not be the best option.

Your K2 Vision surgeon can explain the procedure in more detail with you and help you decide if ICL is the right procedure for your eyes.
