Ophthalmologists
in Redmond

K2 Vision is a practice dedicated to surgical vision correction and focused exclusively on two of the most advanced procedures in eye care today: Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL). We’ve formed our practice this way because we believe that every patient who comes through our doors deserves a chance at crystal-clear vision.

In order to achieve this goal for our patients, we offer the best options available beyond LASIK and cataract surgeries. We do our best to correct vision for more people’s eyes, no matter the complexity of their issues, and decades of experience have shown us that RLE and ICL will help produce those outcomes.

Surgical Vision Correction in Redmond

At K2 Vision, we do what we do because there are so many people who are told that they cannot undergo many common vision correction surgeries, and we know we can offer a solution. Look into RLE and ICL below and come in for a consultation to see if you’re a fit for either.

REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE

Over time and with age, the natural lens in your eyes will naturally deteriorate, and you’ll experience gradual vision loss characterized by clouding and blurring if left untreated. What Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) does is remove and replace that aging lens with a premium intraocular lens (IOL) that can improve your vision. It’s a simple outpatient procedure that takes around 10 minutes per eye.

This used to only be done for premium cataract surgery, but there are more options available today. RLE is usually conducted prior to the actual full formation of a cataract, in response to a condition called Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS). RLE replaces that lens when you first start experiencing vision issues, stopping presbyopia and cataracts from developing.

If you suspect that your vision loss is being caused by cataracts, it might be time to give K2 Vision a call. A consultation with one of our expert eye surgeons can give you a better picture on if you would be a good fit for RLE, or perhaps cataract surgery.

IMPLANTED COLLAMER LENS

In an Implanted Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure, your eye surgeon will insert a phakic IOL made from natural material in front of the natural lens of your eye, without disrupting the eye’s corneal surface. It’s an outpatient procedure that will usually take less than 10 minutes per eye.

ICL, unlike LASIK, does its precise reshaping from within the eye in a way that does less damage to the cornea and features less of a risk of dry eye.

It is a great option for people who might not be good fits for LASIK because of their astigmatism or high degree of myopia, or photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) because of their thinner corneas. Your vision surgeon at K2 Vision will be able to provide more information and answer any questions you may have as you decide together if ICL is the right choice for you.
